| Still air incubators with no fan to
circulate the air are naturally cheaper to produce, but
affected by changes in room temperature, so more difficult to
run. As they are usually single walled boxes of wood or
plastic with limited heat insulation, when the room cools
down, the sides and corners of the incubator cool down too.
This periodic chilling can delay hatching, or even be fatal,
especially for small eggs. Consequently still-air incubators
are commonly associated with unstable temperature control, and
so are not recommended for small and/or valuable eggs. But
there is an exception. |

| For several reasons ECOHATCH
Incubators differ from other still-air incubators and
achieve excellent temperature stability, regardless of ambient
changes. The unique, sandwiched wall construction has a thick
core of foamed polystyrene - the best heat insulator so far -
plus inner and outer skins of PVC plastic which is water
proof, durable and easily cleaned; and round cabinets have no
corners. The temperature sensor is just where the temperature
needs controlling, but the Proportional Electronic Thermostat
is in an external module so not exposed to heat and humidity,
which are not good for electronic systems.
From a cost viewpoint the ECOHATCH compares well
with other still-air incubators, but it achieves the level of
temperature stability found in modern forced-air machines. In
addition it is light and compact so can be posted to anywhere
at reasonable cost. Power consumption is extremely low,
averaging around 20 watts. |
